Nathan Dennis

Playwright, Poet

Nathan Dennis

is a Manhattan based playwright and poet of Floridian extraction.  A graduate of NYU Tisch Department of Dramatic Writing, he served as a Rita and Burton Goldberg Fellow, and was awarded Outstanding Writing for the Stage in Spring of 2015. His most recent play, Lord of Florida, was workshopped by PrismHouse Theatre Company in the Fall of 2017.

Born into a Navy family, he draws inspiration from the near-legendary places he has passed through — from the Gilden mansions of Newport, to the archaic ruins of Sicily, to the Spanish forts of Old Florida. As such, he celebrates crafting and reforging traditional forms and genres into contemporary and contemplative theatre. He strives to pepper his scripts with an eclectic blend of myth, farce, legend, and slapstick.

He is greatly inspired by William Blake, Mel Brooks, J.R.R. Tolkien, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, and Doctor Strangelove — who taught him to stop worrying and love the bomb.
